The Fun Ski & Snow Festival, held only three times in the first 1998/1999 season, was organized 12 times this year with the number of participants growing every year. The Yongpyong Ski Resort hosted seven times of the 7th festival while the Muju Ski Resort hosted 5 times. The 3 night and 4 day festival provides various kinds of programs to participants, such as ski and sledding competitions, ski and snowboard lessons, performances, and recreational activities.
Participants in the festival are mostly from the Southeast Asia region where it’s hard to find snow. The 7th festival was held from December 12, 2004 to March 8, 2005. This festival is the biggest event organized by Korea Tourism Organization for the winter season. To have a closer look into this big event, Park Miyeong at the e-Marketing division of KTO joined the fourth round of the festival held in the Muju Ski Resort from January 23 to 26, 2005. She closely followed the activities of participants throughout programs and the following is her report of the festival.
